Setup

Connect in three steps.

Zapier talks to the Figa REST API over HTTPS with a workspace API key.

https://api.figa.cc/api/v1
  1. 1 Create an API key In Figa workspace settings under API & MCP, create a key for Zapier: the read preset for reports, the write preset for changes. Figa shows it once.
  2. 2 Add a webhook step After your trigger, add Webhooks by Zapier with POST or PUT and the Figa API URL. Send the key as x-api-key and a UUID as Idempotency-Key.
  3. 3 Map, test, publish Send amounts as integer cents with a currency, for example 4200 for €42. Test the step, add an error path, then publish the Zap.

You stay in control

Access you decide.

One key per workflow

Give each Zap its own API key with the read or write preset. Figa shows a key once; rotate it in workspace settings if it leaks.

No duplicates on retry

Reuse the same Idempotency-Key when a step retries. It covers 24 hours, so keep your own log of handled invoices for longer.

Paid means paid

Mark a bill paid only when the source confirms the payment. Figa records the status and never moves money.

Zapier Professional, Figa Free.

Webhooks by Zapier is available on Zapier Professional and higher plans. Figa Free includes one API or MCP connection and 20 expenses a month. Pro includes 10 connections per workspace.

How to automate bills with Zapier and Figa

Zapier is good at noticing things: a new row, an email, a form. Figa is where those things become a plan for the months ahead.

Who does what

Zapier watches your other apps and runs a step when something happens. Figa keeps your recurring bills, estimates and payments. A Zap connects the two by calling the Figa REST API.

Figa does not send webhooks of its own, so a Zap always starts somewhere else: an event in another app, or a schedule. For reports, a scheduled Zap that reads from Figa is the usual pattern.

Start with a read

Before any change, check the key with a simple read: list your categories or read the workspace context. It confirms the key, the workspace and the currency in one step, and costs nothing if something is wrong.

New expense or existing bill?

A monthly invoice usually belongs to a bill that already exists in Figa. Find that occurrence and confirm the actual amount on it, so the estimate becomes the real number and the history stays in one place. Create a new expense only when nothing matches.

  • New expense: POST /api/v1/expenses with name, amount, currency and date.
  • Invoice for a known bill: Read GET /api/v1/expenses/:id/bill, then confirm with PUT on the same path.
  • Payment: PUT /api/v1/expenses/:id/payment-status, only when the source confirms it.

Amounts, keys and retries

Amounts are integer cents: €42.50 is 4250, not 42.50. Always send the currency with the amount.

Zapier can retry a step. Send a UUID Idempotency-Key with each write and reuse it on the retry, so Figa saves the change once. The key covers 24 hours; for invoices, keep a list of the ones you already handled, for example in a sheet, so a late duplicate is skipped.

Keep a person in the loop

Start with a review step for anything ambiguous: two bills from the same supplier, an unusual amount, a missing period. Once the matches are reliable, let the Zap run on its own for the suppliers you trust.

Is there a Figa app in Zapier?

No. Zaps call the Figa REST API through Webhooks by Zapier, with a workspace API key.

Which Zapier plan do I need?

Webhooks by Zapier is available on Zapier Professional and higher plans. On the Figa side, Free includes one API or MCP connection.

Can Figa start a Zap?

Not directly: Figa does not send webhooks. Start the Zap from another app, or run it on a schedule and read from the API.

How do I avoid duplicate expenses?

Reuse the same Idempotency-Key when a step retries, and keep your own list of handled invoices beyond the 24-hour retry window.

Can a Zap pay a bill?

No. Marking a bill paid only records the payment. Figa never moves money.
