Use this for anything paid off in a set number of payments: a laptop in 12 installments, a course in 6, or a loan with a known end. Each installment appears in its month, and the expense shows how much is paid and what is left.

Create an installment plan

  1. Select Add expense and enter the amount of one installment.
  2. Turn on Recurring expense.
  3. Choose how often you pay, for example Monthly, and set the Series start to the first payment.
  4. Under End condition, choose After X occurrences and enter the number of installments in Number of occurrences, for example 12.
  5. Save. Every installment appears in the months ahead, so each month shows what it needs.

See what is left

Open the expense to see its Series balance: how many installments are paid, the amount paid and remaining, the total, the next payment and when repayment ends. When the last one is paid, Figa shows Commitment fully repaid!

Series balance halfway through the plan.

Paying an installment is the same as any bill: select Mark as paid. If you paid several, select them in the month list and mark them paid together. See Mark bills paid.

Skip one payment

If a payment moves, choose Skip this occurrence for that installment. The balance then counts it separately: Paid, Skipped and Unpaid.

An installment plan has a fixed number of payments, so it cannot be paused or ended early. For a bill that runs until you stop it, use a recurring bill with the end condition Never.
